1. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to dispatch a technician to your property and follow up on the service. Specifically:

  • Contact information: Name, phone number, email address you provide when you call or fill out a form.
  • Service address: The Florida property address where you need a leak repair, including unit/apt and gate codes if shared.
  • Service details: Description of the leak symptoms, property type, pipe material (if known), preferred appointment window.
  • Job records: Diagnostic photos, moisture readings, pressure-test data, and repair documentation we generate during the service visit. These become part of your service file.
  • Payment information: Credit card data is processed by our payment processor (Stripe or Square) and never stored on our servers. ACH/check info is retained only as long as required for transaction reconciliation.
  • Insurance documentation: If you've shared adjuster contact info or policy details to coordinate a claim, we retain that for the duration of the claim plus three years.
  • Website analytics: Standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited, referring URL) for site performance and security purposes.

2. How we use your information

The information we collect is used for these purposes only:

  • To respond to your service request, dispatch a technician, and provide the leak detection or repair service you requested.
  • To send service-related communications: appointment confirmations, technician ETA updates, written quotes, invoices, and follow-up after the work is complete.
  • To provide insurance-compliant documentation if you've requested it (cause-of-loss reports, photographic evidence, itemized invoices).
  • To maintain a service history for warranty claims — if a repair we performed needs follow-up, we want the file to find it quickly.
  • To comply with Florida licensing, permitting, and tax reporting requirements.
  • To protect against fraud, unauthorized access, and other security threats.

3. What we never do

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information. Ever, to anyone, for any reason. Our business model is leak repair, not data brokering.
  • Share your information with marketing partners. We are not part of any affiliate, referral-fee, or data-sharing arrangement with marketing companies, lead-generation services, or competing contractors.
  • Add you to a marketing list without explicit consent. The contact form, quote request, and phone call are for direct response to your inquiry — not a subscription. If we ever launch a newsletter, it'll be opt-in only.
  • Use your information for purposes beyond what you contacted us for. If you called about a slab leak, we won't email you six months later about water heater services unless you specifically asked us to.

4. Cookies & tracking

This site uses minimal tracking. Specifically:

  • Essential cookies: Session cookies needed for the website to function (form-state persistence, page navigation).
  • Analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics (server-side log analysis, no personally identifiable cross-site tracking) to understand how visitors find and use the site. No fingerprinting, no behavioral profiling.
  • Conversion tracking: If you arrived from a Google search ad, your visit may be tracked for ad-performance measurement. This data is aggregated and not used to build a profile of you.

We do not use third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking scripts on this site.

5. Third-party services

Some operational tools require sharing limited information with trusted vendors. Each is bound by its own contractual and statutory privacy obligations:

  • Payment processing: Stripe (stripe.com/privacy) or Square (squareup.com/legal/privacy) — receives your payment card information directly; we do not store full card numbers.
  • SMS notifications: Twilio (twilio.com/legal/privacy-notice) — used for ETA texts and appointment confirmations if you opt in.
  • Hosting & email: Standard business-grade hosting and email infrastructure providers (CDN, cloud storage).
  • Insurance carriers: If you request that we send documentation directly to your adjuster, we will — only with your explicit authorization for the specific claim.

6. Florida resident rights

Under Florida's Digital Bill of Rights (FDBR, FL Statute 501.701 et seq.) and other applicable Florida consumer protection laws, you have the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:

  • Right to access: Request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to correction: Request that we correct inaccurate information.
  • Right to deletion: Request that we delete personal information we hold about you, subject to our obligation to maintain service records for warranty, tax, and licensing purposes.
  • Right to portability: Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Right to opt out: Opt out of any targeted advertising, sale, or profiling of your personal information — though as stated, we don't do any of those things.
  • Right to non-discrimination: Exercising any of these rights will not affect the price or quality of service we provide.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@leakrepairflorida.com with your full name, the service address (if applicable), and a description of your request. We respond within 30 days as required by Florida law. If we deny a request, we'll explain the legal basis (e.g., a four-year tax record retention requirement may prevent immediate deletion of certain invoice records).

7. Data security

We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

  • TLS/SSL encryption for all data transmitted to and from this website.
  • Access controls limiting which employees can view customer records, with audit logs.
  • Encrypted at-rest storage for sensitive data.
  • Regular security review and software patching.
  • Vendor risk assessment for any third-party service that handles customer data.

No system is impenetrable. In the unlikely event of a data security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify affected individuals as required by Florida and federal data breach notification laws.

8. Data retention

We retain customer information for as long as needed to provide ongoing service and comply with legal obligations:

  • Active customer records: Retained while the customer-relationship is active and for the duration of any open warranty period.
  • Job/repair records: Retained for at least 10 years to support warranty claims and provide service history.
  • Financial records: Retained for at least 7 years to satisfy Florida tax law and IRS requirements.
  • Marketing inquiry data (if any): Deleted within 2 years of last contact if no service relationship was established.
  • Insurance claim documentation: Retained for the duration of the claim plus 3 years after closure.

9. Children's privacy

This website and our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us at privacy@leakrepairflorida.com and we'll delete it promptly.

10. SMS & phone consent

If you provide your phone number during a service request or call us:

  • You consent to receive service-related calls and SMS messages (appointment confirmations, ETA updates, post-service follow-up).
  • You may receive transactional messages for active jobs without separate opt-in — these are essential service communications, not marketing.
  • You may opt out of non-essential SMS at any time by replying STOP to any of our text messages.
  • We do not send marketing SMS without explicit opt-in.
  • Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our practices, services, or applicable law. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was most recently revised. Material changes will be communicated by prominent notice on this site and, where required by law, by email to active customers.

12. Privacy contact

For privacy-related questions, data subject requests, or to report a concern:

We respond to all privacy inquiries within 5 business days. Formal data subject requests under Florida law are processed within the 30-day statutory window.

This is a service policy, not legal advice. If you have specific questions about how Florida or federal privacy law applies to your situation, consult an attorney. We are happy to clarify our practices but cannot interpret law on your behalf.
